Anniversary Trip

We had a great trip to Williamsburg! The weather was good, the lines in the parks were manageable, and we were able to pack our days quite full.

The park was beautiful. I had never been before and Martin had not been for several years. The different countries throughout the park were fantastic, and gave the whole place a magical feel.

One thing we never managed to do was ride the train. But we made sure to get a picture for Emma and Will.

Entering France...

Italy!

The view from above in the skyway. We used this a lot to get across the park. Not too long of a line, and a break from walking the hills (tons of hills in this park!).

But the real reason we went...the coasters :-)

This is still going back several weeks, but I am almost all caught up!

This year has brought many big changes, one of the biggest of which was the decision to move to a new church. One of the main reasons for this was to have Emma and Will baptized as covenant children. The decision was a long time in the making for us, and we are so thankful for the family and friends that came to share the day with us, even if our opinions of baptism differ.

I didn't take any pictures that day -- I handed Martin the camera sometime after our brunch and asking him to get a few, so that is what is here!

Joshua and Will

The best picture of Emma and Will! Emma was a bit overwhelmed by the day. She burst into tears and buried her head in Martin's shoulder while we stood up front after she had been baptized. Being in front of the crowd was hard enough, but when she heard her name over the speaker it seemed to push her over the edge. Will was calm and didn't seem especially fazed by any of it.

One little boy was overheard telling his parents that Emma "must be allergic to water!" because she was crying!

Thanks again to everyone who could come! It was quite a day, as we shooed everyone (even our kiddos) out of the house so that we could leave for our 5th anniversary trip! More on that coming soon...

Another haircut

Will had his second haircut this weekend. He was getting so shaggy and messy that something had to be done! He enjoyed this one a good bit...laughing and eating his lollipop!

Here's a look back at his first haircut (and Emma's!). He looks so different in just a few short months.
Look at that messy hair! (To be fair, this was bed head.)

Lollipop and most of the way done.

HUGE eyes!

Emma enjoyed her lollipop too, and looked adorable.

Great job, Will. So handsome!

It's hot...pool time!

We've been braving the heat by spending time in the pool!

On this particular occasion, Will and Joshua were big fans and kept cracking each other up, while Emma insisted that she was cold and needed to sit wrapped in a towel.

Mostly, everyone has fun in the pool!

And our new slide has been a great addition to our backyard pool fun!

Emma loves to sit in front of the slide so that Will splashes her as he slides into the water.

It's been so hot that I even spent part of naptime sitting in the pool reading! This has been a fantastic pool, heartily recommended if you are in the market. Our came from Amazon for just $15, which was quite a deal considering they are now selling it for just over $40! This is probably one of those that changes price frequently, so check back if you are interested.

Sesame Place

Several weeks ago we met Grandma in Pennsylvania to go to Sesame Place.

Emma and Will had a blast riding the luggage cart in the hotel, naturally.

The rides were a lot of fun for both of them, and we had the last cool day this spring, so it wasn't too hot either.

A family photo.

Emma and Will with Grandma.

We worked our way up to this little rollercoaster. Emma was SO excited to ride it, especially because we had been talking to her about our upcoming Busch Gardens trip to ride coasters. She ended up not being a fan (in fact, the whole ride was "I want to get off I want to get off!"), but she agreed that she would like to go again when she is 4 or 5.

Riding the balloons.

And the swings (possibly Emma's favorite).

Since it was cloudy, the weather was a little cool for the waterpark, which was a shame because it was really nice. The kids played in the pools for a bit, then we attempted some rides.

The family raft ride was not as innocent as we thought...both kids got very wet didn't really enjoy themselves! Will refused to do any other water rides, but Emma went on one more smaller tube ride (crying), before we called it quits. Poor kiddos, it was way past naptime and they were just done.

We did one more ride on the Merry-go-round,

and Will enjoyed the flying fish once more.

Sitting on Daddy's shoulders to watch the parade.

Then Will crashed on the way out of the park. He slept all the way through the van ride back to the hotel on my lap, and didn't stir getting in his carseat.

A few minutes down the road, Emma joined him!

Father's Day

We're going to be playing catch-up for a few days, trying to get all of the cute pictures up on the blog!

We celebrated Father's Day by taking Daddy blueberry picking.

Emma was an excellent berry picker this year. She was so proud to have her own container and filled it nearly half-way all by herself.

Will sat on the ground and picked blueberries, though most of his went right to his mouth! Then he came over and put his arm around me and said, "what you doin' Mommy?"

Delicious berries!

Beautiful!

On the way down the row, Emma kept stopping to pick more berries, she loved it!

We also went to Washington College for a picnic lunch, and then took a walk around the campus.

A very fun day with Daddy!
