snow!

YAY! for random snow storms that weather.com didnt predict!

sadly they did get the temprature right, and since its holding strong around 34 degrees, none of this beautiful snow is going to stick....

Lord of the Rings

This is a puzzle that we got for Christmas (thanks mom d.!) and put together last week. Its very cool, with lots of contrast between light and dark, and very middle ages looking too. Some of the symbols were very lord of the rings (the 3 rings for the elves, the one ring in the center) but there were a lot that probably just looked cool, so thats why they were added (the yin yang, random flowers and shields along the edges). It was also a little odd to see the characters that were picked to be in the puzzle. They were all main characters, Bilbo and Gollum, Gandalf, the witch king, Legolas and Gimli, Boramir and Faramir...but no Frodo and Sam or Aragorn! sadness...lol (just for you Becca). Anyhow, we liked it, it was fun to put together, and that was a highlight of the week!

a year already?

Its hard to believe that a year has gone by since our engagement. In many ways, its also difficult to realize that it has already been a year. What a whirlwind of changes, but thats part of what makes it so awesome.

Though life changes through the years, sometimes in ways we expect and sometimes in ways we dont expect, one constant remains: the perminance and presence of Jesus. New state, new job, new last name...but none of that matters, He is still faithful, still the same.

I'm so glad he asked, and I'm so glad I said yes.

New Years in Baltimore

We made the trek to Baltimore for new years eve this year with Sarah, Karene, and Kidron. We had a great view of all three barges in the harbor that shot off the fireworks...right next to the Constellation (which was periodically shooting off one of its canons). Since all of the restaurants required reservations, which we didnt have, we found a Chinese takeout place and made a picnic of it, despite the dropping temperatures.

Who knows what 2008 will bring for us, for our families, for our country, for the world. Many will speculate and some will be right and some will be wrong. I think that wisdom would have us echo the words of Daniel:

"Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever,
For wisdom and power belong to Him.
He changes the times and the seasons;
He raises up kings and deposes them.
He gives wisdom to the wise
And knowledge to those who have understanding.
He reveals deep and hidden things;
He knows what is in the darkness,
And light dwells with Him.
(Daniel 2:20-22)

No matter the change that this new year brings, one constant will remain: our Lord and Creator, Savior King, Christ Jesus, God Most High.
