Baking

Will's love for cooking is not limited to helping out in the kitchen; he's been cooking on his own!

His oven, with a full tray of cotton balls:

Just add a little tea while they are baking.

Make a few adjustments with the tongs...

Perfect!

Ok, it's hot so I need the hot pads.

Mmmm, looks what I made!

It smells so good!

Little writer

Emma's favorite pastime right now is copying words and practicing her writing. Her penmanship has improved a ton, just in the past few weeks. She really enjoys writing notes to each family member and usually she asks me to spell whatever she want to write. (My oral spelling skills have improved nearly as much has her handwriting!)

On this particular day she had me spell "Mommy I love you" and then handed me the note. I took a quick glance and thanked her, then did a double take:

OMG! Diva LOL

Apparently she was also copying words from a set of stickers that somehow ended up in our sticker bag. Cracked me up! But we also had a nice conversation about words she doesn't understand...and I need to take a closer look at the stickers!

Sleeping: A Photo Essay

A rare nap with both kids asleep.

And even the pals were tucked in for nap that day!

Will, looking ruggedly handsome in his flannel checked shirt and cable-knit sweater.

Then it gets a little weird. Gandalf Will sleeps with his eyes cracked open.

Will decides to camp out on the floor.

And Will was unable to find his own bed.

Kitchen Helper

Will has turned into my chef in training over the last several months. Anytime I walk into the kitchen to cook he follows me asking to "watch you cook, mommy" or "I want to help you cook somepfing".

I've been trying to let him really tag along because he enjoys it so much. He loves kneeling bread dough.

And he actually does a halfway decent job!

Here he scooped ice into the ice bucket for me.

And a favorite for him is picking the pasta shape for dinner. We had tortellini this particular night and I had a hard time keeping him from stuffing them into his mouth!

Another reason to love our doctor

On a recent trip to the doctor's office, I was talking to Will while Emma colored with the crayons they gave her. Just as the door open and the doctor walked in I turned to see what Emma was doing. She had just finished this:

Her name. On the wall. In exam room #1.

The doctor's response? "She has great handwriting!"

Yep, love this practice.
