Catching up

So sorry that there haven't been any substantive posts lately. We've been busy during the week and then last weekend was a whirlwind of activities!

Emma was supposed to go to the doctor for her 4 month check up last week but we missed the appointment, so we went this past Tuesday. She weighed 11 pounds 13.8 ounces and is 24 inches tall! She also got immunized, one of which was a tetnus shot - so she's been a little cranky because of that. Today she seems to be back to her normal self though.
Emma is now almost able to roll from her back to her stomach. She seems to get stuck at the top, so it shouldn't be too much longer:

Martin has been reading to Emma from the Jesus Storybook Bible. It is the best children's Bible that either of us have ever seen. It has great illustrations (check them out by looking inside the book on amazon) and the whole thing points to Jesus (the subtitle is every story whispers His name).

Awww!

While we were in Florida, Emma started playing with her feet. She loves to have her feet up in the air and pulls at her socks.

She's also gotten a lot more comfortable on her tummy. Emma used to get tired pretty quickly when she was on her tummy, but she has gotten so strong now!

And this is quite possibly the best picture ever! She was making a happy noise - really!

Memorial Day

We had friends over for a big breakfast yesterday. Martin and I love making breakfast, so it was a really fun time, and we had tons of food! In the afternoon we traveled to Bel Air to visit with Martin's mom, aunt and uncle, and cousins for some delicious crabs and swimming in their pool. (not crabs and pool at the same time, however...)
We took Emma in the pool again too. She liked this trip better than when we were in Miami (it was really windy and a cool night then), but she still seems pretty unsure about all that water! Kenny and Ryan really enjoyed seeing her, and Kenny especially got a TON of smiles from Emma!

So, we have the world's best baby....

...Emma just fell asleep while I was practicing my drums. As in, playing a full drumset right above her room.

Yep, she's super. But we already knew that.

Miami!

Thursday morning we flew
to Miami

to see Evan and Sarah graduate!

We met Evan's parents, who flew down all the way from Alaska!

We had some very good sister time.

Yay graduate!

Emma did amazing the whole time, especially since we did a lot of traveling in the car and then sitting for two 2 hour+ graduations. Apparently Emma liked Miami. She's already cheering for the Canes it would seem.

We had a good time too. Although the backseat of our rental van was very sticky. And Martin found a chocolate covered pretzel. Nastiness.

Four generations of girls!

There was a lot of pressure change on the flight home Sunday evening. Emma was bothered by it a lot more on the way back than on the way down. She did get to sleep for a while though. She really did great.

And that was it! (Well, the extra short version.) We had such a great time, though it was far too short. Sarah and Evan get married in less than 3 months, so we will all be back together then!

Some pictures from the weekend

Michelle took this one of me and Emma on Friday:

At church on Mothers Day (this is my friend Megan and her daughter Madison. Madison was born 4 weeks after Emma):

Emma and Mommy lovin time:

We went up to Lums Pond for a picnic dinner Sunday. Emma loved it:

It was a beautiful day!

The first Mothers Day with Emma here! (we found out she was coming on Mothers Day last year!)

Visit with Michelle

My softball teammate and friend from college came to stay with us this past week for a few days. We had a blast, catching up, playing with Emma, and, of course, eating.

I introduced Michelle to Swagbucks. Its a search engine (like Google) but it gives you points (called swagbucks) as you search on the internet. It is powered by Google and Ask.com, so the searches return decent results. (and yes, this has turned into a shameless plug)

I used Google all the time for my searches, but I have switched to Swagbucks because I can be rewarded for just searching on the internet. Since the search engine isn't quite as good, I will occasionally still have to use Google to find what I'm after.

If you are interested in signing up, click on this link, and I will refer you! (And you will automatically get 3 swagbucks!) Referring a friend is one way to earn additional Swagbucks. I believe you can win up to 100 Swagbucks from each friend that you refer. (Once you join, you can start referring too!)

I actually have not traded in any of my Swagbucks yet. I have enough for a $5 Amazon gift card, but I think I'm holding out for something a little bigger. There are some pretty sweet prizes like iPhones, etc, but they require A TON of swagbucks. The way to go is definitely to refer people; you can earn a lot more that way. You can also make many of your online purchases through the swagbucks website and earn swagbucks that way too.
(here ends my shameless plug)

Homemade and new Emma pictures

I had quite a busy few days last week, making lots of things at home. The only picture that I have so far is of this french bread pizza:

Not only was the pizza homemade, but so was the french bread and the sauce! I also made granola (which we ate all of in just a week), as well as homemade yogurt (to go with the granola that is now gone...).

Emma rolled over on Thursday, 2 different times.

She had fun playing with Daddy:
And posing while Mommy took pictures:

You learn something every day...

Today I realized why I don't put those cute headbands on Emma:

She's sacked out

Happy Star Wars Day!

May the 4th be with you.
(Martin sent this to me this morning)
